Review 1 of 3

Price Paid:  $7000.00 from 2001 satelite

Summary:
I bought the RCA LCOS 50000 when it first came out. We were thrilled with it. The picture was terrific and the size and weight worked well with our family room. Now, 18 months later there are problems with it. It took weeks to find someone qualified to work on this technology and it has been determined that the product is unfixable and will have to be swapped back. Thomson consumer (owners of RCA) have been horrible on the matter. Offering us a new set for another 2000 dollars. Tell me would you buy a product that has these types of issues less than 2 years after purchase. So we can either watch the screen with red lines all over it.. or shell out MORE money. I believe this product to be lemon and the company knows it. There were relatively few of these sets sold... Any advice or feedback from others would be welcome I bele

Strengths:
picture = size and weight

Weaknesses:
The product is a lemon.

Review 2 of 3

Price Paid:  $3599.00 from Costco.com

Summary:
HDTV with built in tuner for DTV and 2 OTA or cable. All HDTV capable. Lcos display is bright, burn proof and needs no convergence. All inputs (3 antenna, 4 svideo, one component) have individually adjustable picture settings, as well as 3 presets for color and 3 for room lighting. Came with matchin base. What a bargin!

Strengths:
flexibility of setup

Weaknesses:
only one component input, no DVI HCDP

Review 3 of 3

Price Paid:  $4999.00 from Sat Tech Communicati

Summary:
The LCOS is sharp and bright. Colors are vibrant as one would expect. There are a few preset configurations (cool, normal, and warm). The integrated directv receiver is basic; there is no turbo search capability. Yet, an integrated HDTV directv receiver saves about $500. The set is light and the rather small stand is easy to assemble. The price dropped considerably; at about 5K quite a package.

Strengths:
Relatively inexpensive for a 50" HDTV. Bright sharp picture. Impressive for the price.

Weaknesses:
Basic directv features in the integrated receiver.

Similar Products Used:
Samsung LCD DTV.
